ENTREPRENEURSHIP

A way to reconsider what we’ve been taught to believe about business so we can build sustainable, and meaningful businesses—without burnout, pressure, or forcing strategies that don’t fit.

Running a business asks a lot of one person.

Not just your skills or your time.

Your attention. Your judgment. Your creativity. Your ability to make decisions with incomplete information.

Some days it can feel like you're carrying your entire business around in your head.

When things start to feel heavy, it's easy to assume the answer is to work harder, become more productive, or find a better strategy.

I've wondered if that's only part of the story.

For some entrepreneurs, those ideas work. But for many of the thoughtful, purpose-driven business owners I meet, they don't.

Instead of creating clarity, they create noise. Instead of creating momentum, they create pressure.

What if there was another way to think about business?

Looking to nature changed
the questions I was asking

Nature doesn't seem to measure success by constant growth.

It grows, rests and adapts to its environment.

And it invests below the surface long before anything becomes visible above it.

Perhaps growth isn't always linear

Perhaps collaboration creates healthier businesses than constant competition.

Perhaps our inner world is part of the ecosystem that shapes it

Sydney Fletcher, Certified Professional Coach

A little about me

For years, I thought the answer to building a better business was to work harder, become more productive, and push through overwhelm.

After a decade as a graphic designer and Art Director in Toronto's corporate world, followed by building my own businesses as a freelance designer, yoga instructor, and coach, I realized something different. Most entrepreneurs don't need more information or better strategies. They need space to think.

Living with Type 1 diabetes also taught me that the way I worked couldn't come at the expense of my health. I began questioning many of the assumptions I'd accepted about entrepreneurship. Things like constant growth, urgency, productivity at all costs, and I started looking to nature instead.

Nature helped me see business less like a machine to optimize and more like a living ecosystem to tend. It changed the questions I was asking, the decisions I was making, and ultimately, the way I worked.

Today, I coach hard working, purpose-driven entrepreneurs who want to build businesses that are both meaningful and sustainable. Together, we create space to think more clearly, notice the patterns that are easy to miss when you're carrying everything alone, and build systems that support not just your business, but the life you're trying to create.

the client experience

“Sydney has held space for me in more ways than you could ever imagine.

From times of sadness to happiness, feelings of vulnerability, loss of loved ones, the ending of relationships and the beginning of new ones, reaching pivotal goals, moving my 11 years of living in Ontario to Québec and then to Newfoundland, the closing of one business and the opening of another. You name it she’s been there.

And what I’m even more grateful for is that her coaching sticks with me when I’m alone. I’m truly blessed with the work we have done together.”

Stacey, Newfoundland

“Sydney is a wonderful coach who helped me navigate the launch of my business.

She helped me stay grounded in how I wanted to be and feel, while practicing compassion for myself (my tendency to be overly critical was getting the best of me). She asks brilliant questions (I love returning to our notes) and helped me develop a framework for defining success on my own terms. I am so much more confident and joyful as a result of our time together.”
